This is upside down from how the blank had been cut, but the grain sweeps up through the pistol grip in a stronger way, and we pick up more figure. Also the grain sweeps up through the forearm in a more traditional way. This orientation puts the nicer side towards the shooter instead of towards other people watching you shoot (the 'presentation' side).
